MPA is excited to host this breakfast with SAHBA! This is a great opportunity for members of MPA and SAHBA to network and learn more about this topic, which impacts ALL development in the City of Tucson.
Join City of Tucson Planning and Development Services Director, Scott Clark, for a presentation on the City’s impact fee study and the proposed new fees. MPA is happy to provide this forum for our members to learn more about this process, proposed changes and the impact they may have on local development.
State statute requires impact fees be studied and updated every 5 years and that assessed fees be based upon two documents, the Land Use Assumptions (LUA) and the Infrastructure Improvement Plan (IIP). On August 6th at a Study Session, the Mayor and Council directed staff to move forward with their draft LUA and IIP lists along with the following changes:
- residential fee methodology, calculating fees based upon square footage rather than dwelling units
- Service areas, going from 5 to 3 with an optional city wide one for RTA projects
- New fee categories for churches, schools and hotels
- Increases to commercial fees
The City is on track to approve the LUA, IIP and associated fees in November, with the new fees going into place in February of 2020.
